Built as a national monument to honor the 16th President of the United States (Abraham Lincoln), the Lincoln Memorial is located on the National Mall. It sits across from the Washington Monument with the Reflecting Pool acting as the visual connection between “Father of the Country and the Savior of the Country”. The construction of the memorial took place between 1914 and 1922 and sits 99 feet tall.
